The Future Self program is proudly supported by the Department of Education and Training.

This initiative aims to enhance and support the learning, transition and aspirational mindset of rural and regional students at the upper primary and secondary school levels. The aim of the program is to build the career aspirations of students by increasing exposure to mentoring, role models and post school pathways. Industry Ambassadors will support students to achieve a greater understanding of employment opportunities and career pathways through school engagement activities such as school presentations, workplace tours, Q&A sessions and supporting a student on work placement.

Intro

Hello! My name is Celene Meraz-Benavente and I am a Mechatronics Systems Engineering student at Federation University. I am the engineering team lead for the Firefly SmartSat CRC project at the Melbourne Space Program. My team is working on an algorithm that will detect communication blackouts that occur during bushfires! Another project I have been a part of is the ACRUX-2 project where we are building a nanosatellite! These are certainly out of this world projects!
I am working towards becoming an astronaut. One day I will be touching the stars and pushing boundaries that have never been pushed before!
I look forward to being a part of such a great program and make a difference in our community! We are the generation of dreamers!
